The toss-up: choose a charming historic home and inherit unknown utility costs, storm-insurance anxiety, and a renovation waiting to happen. Choose new construction and risk losing the character, walkability, and value that made you look in St. Pete in the first place.
Florida buyers are doing the math: insurance, energy, commute, and the cost of making a place feel like home. Most listings force a trade-off between safe and efficient and has details and a soul.
We stayed in [the owner's] home for nearly 5 months and absolutely loved it. The house was cozy, beautifully decorated, and felt like home. The heated pool was perfect year-round and well maintained. One of our favorite features was the garden—fresh fruits, veggies, and herbs every day! The location was unbeatable—right off I-275, close to everything in Pinellas, and just 30 minutes to Tampa. We walked to Central Ave often and biked downtown to enjoy all that St. Pete has to offer, including amazing restaurants, bars, and local markets. We truly fell in love with the home and the area!
Such a great home...far larger than the photos implied. [The owner] was a wonderful and responsive host who clearly enjoys the Aironb experience. Great kitchen, beds are comfortable, and the pool was a nice bonus. Plenty of parking and a quick walk to Central Avenue. Would return.
We had a wonderful stay at [the owner's] home. There was nothing we didn't like about the house, but the highlights for us were the screen porch / pool, where we had our morning coffee and lunch almost every day - a peaceful sanctuary. The location is very good. It is walkable to Central Avenue restaurants and shops. While it is a long walk to the Pier (we mostly drove) you would pay a lot more to be closer. We would definitely rent here again.

Concrete block construction with a storm-tested track record, low-e hurricane windows and doors, and a location represented as outside major flood zones. Documentation is available for review.
Solar, spray-foam insulation, a heat-pump water heater, hospital-grade air quality, air conditioning, and dehumidification turn old-home energy anxiety into confidence.
Go car-free. Central Avenue restaurants, coffee, nightlife, groceries, shopping, and healthcare are within a short walk, bike, or e-bike ride.
Move in and host this season—not after eighteen months of permits. Recent upgrades extend from the pool equipment to the kitchen appliances and edible landscaping.
